The idea is that from the age of 6 months, the baby doesn't eat puréed food - despite the fact that she doesn't have teeth. The baby eats what you eat, at the same time that you eat it. Hopefully this will make the baby more independent, give her access to a wider variety of tastes and textures, and encourage her to not be such a picky eater when she gets older.
The whole 'eating with your fingers' delights Margaux immensely, but the ratio of what goes into her mouth vs. what goes on the floor is about 50/50...
Foods that are sticky and have more grip are better for little fingers, so risotto and dhal are high up on the list. Margaux hasn't spat any particular food out yet, but I'm sure her tastes will become more refined as time progresses!
The first two photos in the top line are the before pictures and the ones directly below are the afters... of course she had a relatively tidy meal for this photo collage, however you can see a whole lot of rice, peas, and corn on the towel if you look carefully!
Of the others, in the top photo she's squeezing the juice out of a segment of orange, and at the bottom she's eating a different meal of rice... far more messy this time!
