Gillian (a friend from my school days) and her husband Nathan dropped in to stay with us from Thursday July 3 until Monday the 7th, which was a delightful visit.
Thomas and I have learnt that it's better for both the guests and the hosts of a visit if the guests are given an itinerary or suggestions and are left to spend some time by themselves. Gillian and Nathan proved no exception to this theory, so they enjoyed a wonderful day in Lisbon by themselves, as well as a guided tour up to the Pena Palacio and back via the Cabo da Roca, which is the western-most point of the continent of Europe.
The four of us (Gillian, Nathan, Margaux and I) took advantage of the glorious weather and went for a walk along the coast past the Marina and on to the Boca do Inferno, which was stunning.
Clockwise from top left: Outside our apartment; the slopey horizon was a deliberate optical illusion...; Margaux fascinated by Nathan's watch; I was a bit concerned about the precarious positioning of our photographer when taking our photo at the Boca do Inferno
Gillian had a go at feeding Maggie, with relative success:
All too soon it was time to bid them farewell... until next time!
